Post Production Sound Mixing

Team chevron background.
1) What community do you call home, and how long have you been in the North?

I make Yellowknife my home but I was raised in Fort Smith. Northerner through and through!

2) Please tell us why you wanted to get involved with the Northern Sights Project?

My practice has been primarily in sound design, which I’ve done for many years in Yellowknife, but I am currently studying in Montreal expanding into game design and VR.  3d audio is really the future or sound design for film and games and I think this project really brings together what I am doing down here with what I do in the North.

3) What kind of art would you like to see more of in the Northwest Territories?

I would love to see work that marries traditional and contemporary indigenous culture with the mediums and tools of new media and digital technology.

4) If there a young creative artist who is looking at finding their passion what advice would you give them?

Be involved in the arts scene in your community/region and connect with other artists, develop a business understanding around what you do, don’t expect others in the arts community to be like you (you are unique!) and always remember this is what you are supposed to being doing above all else!

5) What’s your most favourite project you have worked on so far up North?

There are so many to just pick one.  But I think the main project has been seeing the film community grow since I started.  It’s a testament to the tenacity and hard work of northern media professionals and the community support.
