Northern Sights is inviting partners (communities, artist-run centres, schools, organizations, galleries, etc) to be part of their 2019 National Tour. This initiative is free to participating in NWT communities.

Communities currently on the tour schedule can add this VR experience onto the beginning or end of a screening. Alternatively, it can travel distinctly on its own to new locations for singular experiences or week-long installations. Tour Stops bring one WAMP Tour Coordinator to set-up, execute and discuss the VR experience to audiences.

Northern Sights can work as an up to one-week mobile exhibition in some cases. It would require a dedicated space for the Tour Coordinator to display and exhibit the VR experiences, which allow audiences to come for scheduled or open visits.

In some cases, a Tour Stop may have contributing artists attend to give artist talks or mini-workshops about the work and their experience creating it. This is dependent on artist schedules and is only available for NWT stops.

We seek to engage communities and organizations that have a strong outreach to its members, audience or community base. The goal of this free initiative is to get as many people engaged with the content as possible.

Tour Stop Partners should be able to provide three comfortable chairs that swivel (1 per VR unit) and be able to promote and manage bookings with interested audiences (schools, general public, etc.). The following things will be provided to Partners for this purpose:

  • Bilingual project descriptions
  • Bilingual artist bios
  • Bilingual print-ready graphics files, with all texts, credits and logos
